As with a lot of people, my son awoke today incredibly excited to dive into Animal Crossing: New Horizons latest update – bringing Nintendo’s iconic Mario franchise to life in new and exciting ways. Brand new clothes and outfits, new decorations, the fast travel possibilities with Warp Pipes, there’s a lot to get excited about in the new update but unfortunately, it’s not currently available in-game.

Where To Find Mario Update Items In Animal Crossing New Horizons

If you want to buy the new Mario exclusive items, you will need to wait until the event begins. The Mario event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will launch globally on March 1st. It is at this point that you will be able to actually experience the new content the game has to offer.

Anytime before that point, you will only be able to obtain the mushroom reward for downloading the update before release.

As for recipes you will have to find them in balloons and from other residents. I got a cherry blossom pond stone and a picnic set from the residents on my island. I think one came from Isabella actually. Hopefully with the increased balloon count from the egg event you can find more recipes around. Just keep running around and you will stack up your cherry blossom petals in no time. Just remember that it only lasts for 10 days, don’t want to miss any cool recipes.

Where To Find Eggs In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Earth Egg
Search your island for dig spots to find these eggs. If you haven’t got your fossils for the day then you might get them instead. You can find more on resource islands via a nook ticket.

Stone Egg
Go hit some rocks on your island to find these eggs. Money rocks don’t work, they need to be resource rocks. Again, resource island is another great spot for more rocks.

Leaf Egg
These will grow on a couple of random trees on your island. I want to say I had two? But I also have a ton of trees. If you are lucky they can be found on resource islands as well.

Wood Egg
Hit a tree with an axe to sometimes get this egg. You should use one that won’t cut down your islands trees. It isn’t a 100% chance drop, so keep at it.

Sky Egg
This one has the most luck attached to it. You need to wait for balloons to fly above you and listen for the wind noise. Sometimes they are recipes and other times they are Sky Eggs.

Water Egg
Gotta fish for these ones. You can hit the beach, river, or pond, it doesn’t matter. It is random so you will sometimes get fish still.

Where To Get Bamboo In Animal Crossing New Horizons

In order to unlock Bamboo, you need to go to the resource islands with Nook Miles tickets. There isn’t a way to make this happen 100%, but if you keep going you will get a Bamboo island eventually. It took me roughly a week to find one, so hopefully I just had bad luck and you can get one quicker. Once on the island you can dig up bamboo shoots. Plant these on your island and after a few days they will grow into bamboo stalks that you can cut for the bamboo you need to craft with. You can also eat pears/other fruit and dig up the fully grown bamboo stalks and bring them back to your island, making it easier to get bamboo quickly at home. Be careful with the bamboo shoots, it will let you eat them if you click the wrong button.

Another thing to watch out for is what axe you use to chop down the bamboo. Don’t use a metal axe or else you will cut the whole tree down. Instead focus on the flimsy axe or stone axe to keep the trees up and to retrieve bamboo without cutting them down. The last thing you want to do is cut down all the bamboo on your island and be stuck waiting to get lucky with a resource island again. If you have a friend with some bamboo you can trade them a few trees if they are feeling generous.

Throughout your journey in Animal Crossings New Horizons, you’ll be in debt. Not just a few bells here and there, a lot of debt. As you continue to upgrade your home, Tom Nook will be more than happy to provide near limitless credit for all your homing upgrade and relocation needs.

How To Get A Basement In Animal Crossing New Horizons

The basement upgrade is somewhat pricey. First you must complete the 1.5 million upgrade to get a second floor in your house. If you can somehow manage to scrape together the huge fee of 1.5 million, the next upgrade available is the basement. Once you agree to the upgrade, it happens much the same as it did before. Tom Nook will upgrade your house within 24 hours and then leave you with the bill for the basement he’s fitted.

2,498,000. Yes, that’s nearly 2.5 million bells. Thankfully you’ve already got the basement so there’s no real rush to paying it off but the debt won’t pay itself. You will be happy to hear however, this is the final upgrade for your house.

As you continue through the story of Animal Crossing New Horizons the wonderful Tom Nook will often offer near endless piles of debt to upgrade your house. On the slightly more positive side, the upgrade is applied before you have to pay for it, but that does leave you spending a long time earning bells to pay it off before the next upgrade.

How To Get A Second Floor In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Once that upgrade has been purchased and added to your home, you unlock customization. This let’s you change your doors and other visual bits and pieces. This is a long time after you unlock the ability to move your house.

So carry on paying your debts and upgrading your house. After the 750k upgrade, speak with Tom Nook about your next house upgrade. This one costs around 1.5 million bells but as before, you get the upgrade before you have to pay for it. Then you’ve just got to work and pay that one off. Fun times, eh? Then, you can work on getting a basement in New Horizons.

When you start a save on Animal Crossing New Horizons you are, in a sense, creating an island for that Nintendo Switch. Other profiles can play the game but they will all share the same island. You’d have to delete your save data if you wanted to start again or have a new island. A couple of times a week a duck named Gulliver will wash up on a beach on your island. If you speak with Gulliver enough times he will give you a task to find 5 Communicator Parts. This is where the Rusted Metal comes from, it’s a lot of work and some random chance to grind (how to get rusted metal), making it very rare and valuable, but what does it do?

What To Do With Rusted Metal In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Once such item is the Robot Hero. A mech-like transformer statue that towers over most other items. This is an expensive item, requiring a whopping 5,000 Nook Miles. As well as the miles you need a lot of other valuable items, such as the Rusted Metal and Gold Nuggets, as well as Gold Armor (that we’re still searching for). It takes 5 Rusted Parts so you must encounter Gulliver 5 times. This stage alone can take a few weeks so save those Rusted Parts.

There are loads of villagers you can find on the different islands you can explore. While most of them are the same in terms of functionality, some are much cooler than others. Want a crocodile with a snappy catchphrase or a bear that towers over your other residents? If you want to change the people that live on your island, you’ll have to make some evictions.

How To Remove Villagers In Animal Crossing New Horizons

There are several options when talking to Isabelle. You can talk about island evals, change flag and change tune. The final option, Discuss a Resident, is what you’re looking for. When you choose to Discuss a Resident you can then select a resident and make a formal complaint. This will, in time, remove them from the island for causing problems. If you’re able to stomach the guilt of making a poor duck homeless for no other reason that having a personal issue with its appearance, that’s on you.

If the resident option isn’t available, you may need to raise the image of your island first. Once you reach the “Project K” part of the story, it’s definitely available then.

Where To Get Gold Nuggets In Animal Crossing New Horizons

In order to get Gold Nuggets in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you will first need an axe or a shovel. From there you will need some luck and patience. Gold Nuggets can be found from any normal rock you can find on your island, or on a resource island. Hit it as many times and you can and if you are lucky, you will get one piece of Gold. As of writing this I only have six pieces of gold and have been playing around 35 hours, hitting rocks quite often for their resources. I have had more drop towards the later part of my game, so it might be tied to play time a little bit as well.

Using you stronger and better tool will increase your chances of getting some gold, but not by a huge amount. Your best bet is to get tickets for the resource islands and do some farming out there. It will cost you a ton of Nook Miles, but the resource islands normally have four or five rocks each time, which will increase your chances even more. Still, don’t expect to get these quickly or effectively, it will be a big grind. That said, there is something really cool at the end of the game that takes 30 pieces of Gold Ore, so be sure to keep any that you find along the way. I have also got some from the balloon gifts that come over your island.
