How To Unlock Locked Chests In Dragon Quest Heroes 2 - The Thief's Key
You may have come across locked chests during your travels in Dragon Quest Heroes 2, but with no key in sight how do you unlock them? This guide will tell you everything you need to know for How To Unlock Locked Chests In Dragon Quest Heroes 2. Locked Quests are scattered across the game world in Dragon Quest 2, they can be found as early as the very first map and as late as the very last zone you explore.

However, the game doesn’t explain anything behind the mechanics of locked chests. Do you have to find a key? Maybe you can level up Thief to learn a skill so you’re able to unlock chests you come across in future?

It’s some time before you’re able to fulfill all the requirements to unlock The Thief’s Key, the special item you need to unlock locked chests in Dragon Quest Heroes 2. There are a number of requirements you must meet, but even if you’re completing content hugely under-leveled, you won’t be able to open locked chests until 10-15+ hours into the game.

Achieve Level 20 Thief
Your first step in unlocking locked chests in Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is reaching level 20 with Thief. You do not get a Thief character early on, it has to be the main character. You cannot do it using the second main character. You can switch to Thief early on and level as you normally would, or you can convert later down the line and level with the better experience points offered by higher level monsters. Once your party is around the level 35-40 mark the enemies offer enough experience points to get a new class to 20 in about 10-15 minutes.

Reclaim Accordia
In order to get the Thief’s Key you have to progress through the main story quests. Without revealing too many spoilers you need to progress through until you defeat the Missing Lynx boss during the mission where you reclaim Accordia from the forces of darkness. After that part of the story you return to Accordia and have to enter the castle. Once you have reclaimed Accordia and have the level 20 Thief, you have everything you need, well – almost.

Buy The Orb
Head down behind the Church (Making sure you have THF equipped) and speak to the old man standing next to the cat. Then go back up the stairs. Next to the save area in Accordia, North West side, is a large muscle-bound guy. You should notice a ! over his head. Speak with him and he will tell you that the orb store is selling something special. Speak to the Orb lady and select the item that has no name – it’s just a black space. It costs 3,000 Gold.

An Honour Among Thieves
This is one of the Dragon Quest Heroes 2 side quests, you unlock it after purchasing the Orb and speaking with the quest lady. Head to Ingenia and enter the city, you will get the option to enter and participate in this quest. You have to sneak through the dungeon without getting seen. It can be a bit of a pain but check out the video below if you’re struggling.
