You need to find the Captive Cord to complete the Essence of Failure quest. This guide tells you Where To Find The Captive Cord In Destiny 2 so you can finish all of the Essence of Failure objectives and unlock the Arc Logic Assault Rifle weapon.

As with many of the Essences in Shadowkeep, the Essence of Failure can be a random drop obtained from high level, high difficulty enemies. Once unlocked, it becomes a quest in your quest log and can be tracked like any other quest. You need to complete three objectives before you can fully complete the Essence of Failure.
