When exploring The Moon you may find special chests covered in three symbols. This guide explains How To Open Chests With Symbols In Destiny 2: Shadowkeep as it’s not locked behind progression or any other mechanic, they are small puzzles that can be solved with nothing more than your wit, and, well, you need a gun too.
These unique chests can be found in many different places, but the solution to the chests is always the same. You know you have located one of the special chests marked with symbols when the front of the chest has 3 unique symbol designs in full view.
How To Open Chests With Symbols In Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
As you can see, I discovered one of these next to one of the Public Events on The Moon. It’s not always there, the spawns vary as with any other chest in Destiny 2. However, the puzzles and the solutions are the same. Pay close attention to the front of the chest. You will need to remember the order of the symbols. Once you have remembered the order, search nearby. There will be 3 symbols matching the symbols on the chest.
As you can see here, I found two symbols sitting outside the area with the chest. Very close, within 10-15ft. I still needed to find the third one.
The last symbol for this particular chest with symbols is inside the pipe-like structure, on the ceiling.
Once you have found all of the symbols, the rest is easy. Shoot them in order that they appear on the front of the chest, from left to right. Shoot the symbols until they start spewing out green smoke. Once you have shot all three in the correct order, you can open the chest.
