Darksiders 2 Earth Side Quest Guide

Light of the Fallen
You get the quest after you use the Salvation gun to destroy the waves of enemies. Speak with Uriel and she’ll as you to “Free” 10 of her fallen comrades.

Trapped Hellguard #1
After leaving the first courtyard, being ambushed by The Swarm and walking through the building. The first angel is on the wall to your left as you walk down the street, it’s hard to miss.

Trapped Hellguard #2
After you get attacked by the Suffering, head North East into the subway. Past the chest and down the stairs. The first room you enter, the angel is trapped in the South East corner.

Trapped Hellguard #3
Again in the sewers, after you fight another of the explosive enemies, head down the stairs and go east. There’s 3 little parts of the map that stick out, the angel is in one of those.

Trapped Hellguard #4
When you get the chest for the Dungeon Map, head North West down the dead end road where a relic awaits you at the end. Turn backwards and look up to your right, the angel is trapped on the side of a building

Trapped Hellguard #5
This one is quite hard to find. After you collect the dungeon map and head through a building to an alley in the next area. Head straight out of the alley into a room that houses a Book of the Dead page. After that turn back and face the alley, look up and to your right. The angel is trapped way up on the side of a building

Trapped Hellguard #6
After defeating The Noss, you enter a large tunnel and eventually arrive at a chest. Just past the chest, where you have to climb up a small mound to reach the next area, you’ll see another Salvation Gun leaning against the wall. Just behind that is another fallen angel.

Trapped Hellguard #7
Following the path from #6, continue through until you’re back inside the car tunnel on the opposite side of the blockade. Directly in front of you is a door to a small area just off the tunnel. The angel can be found inside

Trapped Hellguard #8
After you defeat The Noss for the second time, follow the street right to the West end and peer over the edge. You can also get a secret chest appear here if you destroy 4 blue boxes on the side of the road.

Trapped Hellguard #9
After defeating The Noss for the third and final time, head towards the end of the bridge, where it turns East, and then turn around. The angel is on the right hand side high up one of the supports

Trapped Hellguard #10
You can’t really miss this one. As you complete the rod and enter the series of rooms, it’s in the last one before you meet Uriel for the final time.

Darksiders 2: Lost Light Side Quest Guide

The Lost Soul
When you first arrive in Lost Light and you’re ambushed by the Angels, Nathanial will come to your aid. Speak to him about “Other Business” and he’ll ask you to run some errands with a scroll. The first stage of this quest is pretty simple, go to the Kingdom of the Dead and speak with the Chancellor at the Eternal Throne. Remember to use Fast Travel and it will only take about 30 seconds. You must also deliver it to Muria (The blind maker) to receive another quest in the Forge Lands. You can check our Forge Lands Side Quest Guide for more information. You have to complete both Muria’s and The Chancellor’s quest to hand this in.

The Chancellor’s Quarry
You obtain this quest after taking Nathanial’s scroll to The Chancellor on the Eternal Throne. He takes you with investigating Soul Arbiter’s Maze, something you don’t want to do until you’re nearing the end of your adventures.

How To Kill Ghorn?

Stage 1:
The initial stage is about as basic as they come. Ghorn’s attacks are slow and regular, allowing for easy dodge and counter attacks. Occasionally he will begin glowing for a second or so, that’s when you want to retreat. He’ll unleash a short range explosive attack in all directions, doesn’t hurt all that much but it’s better to dodge it when you can.

Stage 2:
When you get him down to about 80% health, he’ll add another attack to his arsenal. He’ll begin to pound the floor, causing lava pools to rise up through the ground. As long as you use the 2 dodge technique (don’t dodge too fast or the final flip will stall you long enough for the lava to hit you). Keep dodging around in a circular motion until he finishes his attack

Stage 3:
The final stage includes all of Ghorn’s previous abilities, but with the aid of a bunch of extra enemies. Using the techniques above to dodge his abilities, ignore the added minions when possible, just aiming to get Ghorn’s health down as quickly as possible. When he gets down to about 10% HP, use your action key (O on PlayStation) to initiate the finishing blow.

How To Kill Argul?

Stage 1
This guy is a total pain in the ass, right from the get go. During stage 1, Argul will use 2 main attacks. He will smash the ground with his mace, or dig his shield into the floor and charge. The charge ability is useless as it’s easy to dodge but his mace attack is lethal, I mean enough to kill a decked out level 16 in one hit. He will slam his mace into the ground 1-2 times, which freezes you if it makes contact. Prompting an action button mashing in order to escape, however, damage continues after you’ve escaped due to a DoT (damage over time) effect. Use the 2 dodge technique, don’t do the flip as you’ll leave yourself exposed, and then simply dodge like crazy until he gets his mace stuck in the floor.

Stage 2
Once you take him down to about 50% health, he’ll add another attack to his arsenal. A lunging spinning attack. I didn’t really have much success blocking this but staying well at range after you’ve done damage, followed by a backflip would seem to be the best course of action. Once you’ve managed to get the hang of dodging his mace, it’s pretty easy. If you’re constantly dying before getting him down to 70% HP, consider coming back after you’ve grown a bit stronger.

How To Kill The Wailing Host?

Stage 1
Stage 1 is relatively easy, I completed it in about 2-3 hits. The Wailing Host only really has one ability here, a two swipe attack. The first swipe will cover the ground immediately in front of it, while the second covers ground at range. Backflip and then immediately dodge towards The Wailing Host before unleashing a combo of attacks. Repeat this once or twice and the The Wailing Host will disappear back down its hole.

Stage 2
Stage 2 is just an added minion fight where The Wailing Host summons a horde of Skeletons. These are especially useful for healing if you have heal on kill or any other perks on your weapon. Otherwise just dispatch of them as quickly and cleanly as possible.

Stage 3
The Wailing Host uses a new ability here where he punches both fists into the ground. If you remain between them, you won’t get hurt. When you do enough damage for it to collapse for a few sections, run up and press “O” to rip of its face. He will then summon another wave of Skeletons. Dispatch of these but be careful of the colorful sign that appears on the floor, a monster will fly up through the ground. I suggest using light attacks on the Skeletons so you have enough time to dodge when the circle appears. Kill all of the Skeletons to advance to the next stage.

Stage 4
The final stage is nasty but fast. I suggest saving your Reaper ability until now. All 3 waves come into effect, The Wailing Host uses all its abilities while the creature and Skeletons harass you. Just get in close and deal as much damage as you can. Keep an eye out for the action key prompt as soon as The Wailing Boss reaches low HP.

How To Defeat Bone Giant?

Stage 1
The first stage of this fight is actually good fun. It’s just endless upon endless waves of undead Skeletons. They’re the weak variety so they pose no threat. Once you’re bored of smashing them to pieces, you’ll need to target the hanging Skeleton above. Your melee attacks can hit but it’s not too slow if you use the gun. Once you’ve taken his health down to 0, he’ll disappear for a few seconds and return as a total bad ass.

Stage 2
He has two main abilities in this stage, a 2-punch combination attack and a long-range headbutt. The 2-punch attack is easy to see coming, he’ll raise his right arm about half a second before attacking you. Make sure to avoid the first one or he’ll often hit you with both. The other attack is a bit harder to foresee. He’ll tilt his head back slightly and then lunge it forward. It does hurt a bit so you’ll want to dodge to the side and get a few hits in. Use Teleport Slash to jump through him to avoid both of his abilities, and then just damage from the rear. Very simple boss fight.

How To Kill Basileus and Achidna?

Stage 1
The first stage is relatively simple. It’s just Basileus by himself and first. He has two main attacks, quick melee strikes and a short range AoE. You only have to dodge and counter 2-3 times to begin stage 2. If you’ve got Ghouls, summon them straight away as Basileus hits far harder than Achidna.

Stage 2
Bit more difficult this time round as Basileus mounts Achidna, bringing in a whole new selection of skills and abilities into the fight. She’s far weaker than her Dead Lord counterpart so she’s not much to worry about. She’ll have a field of lightning around her and then charge you, all you have to do is a simple dodge as she’s very slow. With her back turned, unleash all of your skills until Death pulls Basileus off his mount.

Stage 3
Back to just Basileus again although Achidna jumps in for double team moves. All Basileus will do this stage is stay at range and then pounce at you, followed by another jump attack. Keep an eye on your surroundings, if you see dirt falling from the ceiling, Achidna is about to drop down, so be sure to get out of the way. Dodge Basileus once as he charges, and straight away again. Then counter. Wear him down with the gun if you can’t get close.

Stage 4
They’re both back in the fight again. Like before, Achidna will chase you with her lightning storm on. If you’ve still got a potion or two left, just get in and damage her as much as possible. She does minimum damage to you so you should be fine.

How To Kill Phariseer

Stage 1
The Phariseer is unique when compared to previous bosses as he doesn’t focus on singular powerful hits, instead he attacks fast and often. This means you’ll need to adapt to a whole new technique of dodging, although for once it’s a boss that isn’t 5 times the size of Death. He has two main abilities that he will use at the start. A 2-hit swing combination and a very short range AoE. The 2-swing combination is what you want to watch out for, as soon as he starts doing it, dodge to his rear and lay out the damage. It only takes a few hits before he moves on to stage 2

Stage 2
He summons quite a few Skeletons after you’ve dished out a bit of damage. They’re weak but can work as healing bodies if you’ve got good heal on execution stat. He also gets a new ability during this way where he jumps and lunges forward. Distract the minions while working on him, don’t focus on them or you’ll get hit in the back hard. Just work him down bit by bit. It’s quite an easy boss fight.

How To Defeat Gnashor

Stage 1
At first, Gnashor stays underground. You can tell where he is by the trail of sand moving on the surface. If it’s just dust/sand, it won’t hurt you. However, if there’s a clear mound of dirt, touching it will cause damage. The best way to avoid this is to wait until the last second and then dodge, sideways and forward. Every few seconds he’ll stick his head up above the surface, that’s when you need to strike. Use your Deathsgrasp to pull his face into the ground, stunning him for several seconds. Do your damage there, but don’t waste your Reaper skill if it’s available. You only have to stun him once or twice. After the first time he’ll use a spinning attack but just use the same dodging technique you used when he was underground.

Stage 2
Gnashor changes into a new, and far more intimidating form. He will use a long range physical attack that will hit multiple times if he connects the first blow. As with regular tough monster fights, just keep at his heels, dodging attacks and countering. Once you get him to about 80% health, you can’t get much lower before he heals. When you hit him for a good amount of damage, he will stagger for a second and then roar at you. When he does that roar use your Deathgrasp to smash his cheeky face into the floor. This reveals his previous form, so deal as much damage as you can. That form will then jump out from underground with very little notice, so watch for any movement and dodge. Eventually, he’ll go back into his full body.

That’s pretty much it. It’s not a hard fight but the mechanics make it quite fun. If you’re still not having any luck, leave a comment and I’ll help if I can.

How To Kill Construct Hulk In The Nook

This guy is easily one of the hardest and most impressive bosses so far in Darksiders 2. He has a variety of deadly abilities, all of which cause serious damage if you let it hit you. His main ability, especially when you stay at range, is a ground stomp with both fists. This cannot be dodged if you’re in close range, you have to time your jump over the shockwave. Every time the Construct Hulk uses this ability, Shadowbombs drop from the ceiling, you need to grab these and launch them at it to damage it. When you hit it with a Shadowbomb, get as close as you can before it explodes. This will bring it down to its knees. Use your best abilities to cause as much damage as you can.

When it gets back up it will stomp the ground moving forward at quite a pace, make sure you’re well clear as one hit can cause you to get damaged by several attacks. If you stay outside of melee range until you use a Shadowbomb, the rest of his abilities are useless. The Shadowbomb’s are timed so you don’t need to shoot them but be careful as they’ll explode if you hold them for too long or let them roll around.

If possible, take care of the extra minions before going for the bombs as they can make it a bit more difficult to target the Construct Hulk. It’s a pretty straightforward fight although it can be tricky if you’re not sure what you’re doing. If you’re still stuck, feel free to post a comment and I’ll try to help you out.

Note: You may have noticed a chest behind the Construct you wake after the Construct Hulk Boss Fight. You cannot get this unless you return after he takes you away.
