At the beginning of Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy you only begin with a single class, the Freelancer. As you progress through the game you can find Job Memory items that, when obtained, can unlock the use of another job. Whenever you enter a dungeon you can use the device at the beginning to choose your Job.

Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy Job Points Guide

Job Points are special drops that reward you with experience points for the currently equipped job. Whenever you defeat an enemy, there’s a chance a Job Point will drop. The rarer the enemy or the more powerful the enemy, the greater amount of JP they drop. For example, Cactuars and Tonberries in Frejas Memories dungeon are both great sources of JP.

The Job Point always appear under the feet of the character that killed the enemy. As such, it’s easy to walk off as you have to step off the tile and then step back to obtain the Job Point. After you accumulate enough Job Points, your Job will level up and you will unlock additional abilities.

When you first arrive at the farm, you cannot interact with the field. You must progress through the game until you reach Chapter 3. Once you have begun Chapter 3, speak with the Florist in the town and she will need you to complete one of the Challenge Dungeons. Once you have defeated her Challenge Dungeon she will regain her memories and open up the Florist’s Shop for you to use.

How To Plant Seeds In Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy

You can plant a single seed in each of the locations shown at the farm. The result is random. The Mystery Seeds will grow into a random plant after you complete 10 dungeon floors from the time they were planted.

Unlike Buddy Points and Job Points, Magicites are not randomly occurring drops from all enemies of a certain type. Only specific, unique and powerful enemies will drop a Magicite after they have been killed. Magicites are a special item that you can use from your inventory to summon the appropriate creature. Unfortunately, you can only use a Magicite a single time, so use it wisely.

Although the Magicites break after use, they can be obtained multiple times. Simply repeat the fight and if you win, you’re guaranteed a Magicite drop.

Phoenix
Clear the Guardian Of Flame Dungeon. The Phoenix is the end boss.

Ifrit
Also located within the Guardian Of Flame Dungeon. You need to reach the higher level floors, 17+, and find one of the traps that can be either shop or a duel. If you get the duel, there’s a small chance you will encounter Ifrit. Defeat him to obtain the Magicite.

Leviathan
Defeat the boss in Guardian Of The Water Dungeon

Shiva
Defeat Shiva in Guardian Of The Water Dungeon. She is one of the random Duel Trap monsters on the 25th floor and above.

When you defeat an enemy, there’s a chance they drop Buddy Points. When you collect enough Buddy Points for a specific type of creature, you will unlock that creature. Once unlocked you can assign the buddy so it will follow you into dungeons and aid you in combat.

Some enemies are much rarer than others. As such, it’s a good idea to replay dungeons to farm specific creatures for their Buddy Points. Below is a breakdown of each Buddy/Enemy location on a dungeon-by-dungeon basis.

Your inventory space plays a huge role in Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy. You are limited on the amount of healing items you can take, the different equipment you can wear, even the amount of food needed to survive a long journey. Your bags will attempt to limit all of it, as much as possible.

Your initial bag starts with 10 slots. This is the normal “Bag” in your Key Items section. However, there are other bags you can buy that will give you more bag space and allow you to carry more items in your inventory.

Your Chocobo can learn new skills and abilities depending on what jobs you have unlocked, equipped and progressed with. Each job levels up individually through Job Points earning from completing dungeons and defeating enemies. You can only chance your class at specific locations, such as the very beginning of most dungeons. If you change class, you will automatically assign the latest abilities unlocked for that class.

Below is a list of the different classes we’ve discovered so far, including how to find their Job Memory so you can unlock new classes for yourself.

How To Unlock All Jobs

How To Unlock Freelancer
The Freelancer is the base job/class for the game. Everyone begins with Freelancer unlocked.

How To Unlock Knight
You unlock this through natural progression with the story. After you begin Mayor Gales Memories, you will unlock the ability to become a Knight.

How To Unlock Black Mage
You need to reach the 10th Floor in the Temple of Flame dungeon. You will find the Black Mage Job Memory near the gate on the 10th floor of Guardian of Flame.

How To Unlock Thief
Inside the Guardian of Flame dungeon. Near the top levels are green trap pads. When you step on these, you will either get a shop or a Dual. If you get the shop, look for the large, yellow shining bag at the shop to unlock the Thief Memory. You will have to complete a very hard fight.

How To Unlock White Mage
You need to complete the Pastor Roches Memories dungeon. At the end of the dungeon, on the last floor, you’ll find the White Mage memory.

How To Unlock Dragoon
You need to complete the Mejas Memories dungeon. On the final floor, you must pick it up before you can complete the dungeon.

How To Unlock Scholar
When you reach the Guardian Of The Water Dungeon, proceed through to the 10th floor. You’ll find the Scholar Memories outside the gate.

How To Unlock Red Mage
Complete Charlotte’s Memory Dungeon

How To Unlock Beastmaster
Complete Alta’s Memories Dungeon (A Treasure Hunters Memories) which appears after completing Camilla’s Memories.

How To Unlock Dark Knight
Found in the clock tower after you beat Croma on floor 30

How To Unlock Machinist
During the “post-game” when you clear past Cid’s memories

How To Unlock Dancer
Claire’s Memory Dungeon (unlocks after the Water Dungeon, have to do Roddy’s first or there’s a story event later that moves it to the mirror in the church)

How To Unlock Ninja
Volg’s Dungeon (unlocked post-game)

Depending on where you purchased your game, you may have received Alpha – a DLC reward Buddy. This means at the very start of the game, you already have a Buddy available to choose. As you continue to progress through different dungeons, you will earn more Buddy Points and unlock more buddies to take into combat.

How To Equip A Buddy In Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy

Once you have unlocked a new buddy, you have to wait until you are out of a dungeon. You cannot change Buddy or equip a new Buddy whilst you are in a dungeon environment. Either exit via the stairs or kill the boss before opening the main menu and selecting Buddy Registry.

Now find the monster you want and follow the prompt in the lower right to confirm the selection.
