New Aetherium crystals have been introduced with Season 2’s update for Zombies. This guide on How To Get Refined & Flawless Aetherium Crystals In COD Zombies Outbreak will tell you how you can unlock the brand new crystals, crystals that let you upgrade skills to Tier IV and Tier V.
In the original version of Zombies in Cold War, players were able to farm Raw Aetherium Crystals to increase gear from Tiers 1 through to Tier 3. With the release of Season 2, and the new Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak mode, players are able to vastly improve their gear through overcharging skills to even higher levels, unlocking skills in Tier IV and Tier V. Now, however, you can farm Refined Aetherium Crystals and Flawless Aetherium Crytals.
How To Get Refined Aetherium Crystals & Flawless Aetherium Crystals In Season 2
The reward system for the new Refined Aetherium and Flawless Aetherium remains much like the original Raw Aetherium, just slightly more challenging. In the original Zombies mode, you received a Raw Aetherium for surviving 10 rounds of zombies spawning and trying to kill you. In Outbreak, this system has evolved to reward an Aetherium Crystal for completing a single experiment, and then an additional Aetherium Crystal for managing to successfully extract, which is more challenging than it sounds.
When you load into a new map in Outbreak you will immediately see an Experiment on your map. These are the main objectives, marked by a star icon on the screen. They can involve taking out high value targets, escorting a drone, defending a location, there’s a good variety. Each time you complete an Experiment, you are rewarded with Aetherium Crystals. Once you have completed an Experiment, you can warp to a new area or Exfil.
If you warp, you will go to a new area with a new experiment and increase the world difficulty. If you successfully Exfil, you will get additional Aetherium Crystals depending on difficulty. for example, if you finish the first experiment and then Exfil, you will get Raw Aetherium Crystals. However, if you warp to a new location, complete a new Experiment, and then Exfil from a higher difficulty world, you will get Refined Aetherium Crystals & Flawless Aetherium Crystals.
As the new Refined Aetherium and Flawless Aetherium are considered more potent upgrades, far stronger, they are rarer and thus harder to obtain. You can receive them in both modes, Outbreak and traditional round-based zombies. You receive more Refined Aetherium and Flawless Aetherium for surviving longer wavers in the harder sections of the normal zombies mode. Likewise, in Outbreak, you can receive the crystals for completing more difficult challenges and tasks.
