In Central Market street, near all the vendors, you will eventually run into a merchant named Romy. Romy is from the first game and she appears pretty early on in the second game. She gives you a few basic quests and chats with you for a bit. Eventually, she will give you a quest to get her some honey of a certain quality. You have to learn the skill yourself and then turn in the honey.
After completing the quest, do a few more story quests and another person will show up near Romy’s shop. She works for Romy and I think you get another quest here, but that’s not the point. Talk with Romy after this and she will tell you about Development. This is how you get new and more rare materials to flow through the merchants. Fill up the bars and you get better goods down the line.
Talk to her again and she will ask you if you have any Gold Coins. At this point I had a couple from a quest but most of the stuff costs 3 or 5 gold coins. You can find Gold Coins by doing quests at the Cafe or somethings by looting chests in ruins and in the field. She has very rare materials, so I suggest saving up until you actually NEED to buy something.
