You must follow the main story. After a couple of large maps, filled with difficult enemies, you will reach the Abyssal Valley. In this part of the story you are looking for the Great Power alongside another group of rivals. Eventually you will encounter a robot in the story that you are not strong enough to kill. A member of the rival party will sacrifice themselves so that you are your battalion can escape.The next objective has you returning to this same area except this time, you will be faced with a Sandstorm. Erin will give you a special item as a token of her trust, the Wind Orb. Slot this into your LunaGear and you will have the ability to use the Wind Orbs power. Use the power to blow the dirt away that covers the chest. You are now able to open the chest and claim the loot from within.
